In complex buildings, considerable, varying loads, forces and motions may arise due to dead load, wind, temperature, earthquakes and various other vibrations.  These can be transmitted and controlled by customised structural bearings, seismic protection and vibration isolation devices, tuned mass dampers and expansion joints in order to prevent structural damage.
